cheaty cheat

little mysteriesCheaty cheat cheat. Cheat. I have to confess now that this week's strip actually represents the edited highlights from a 16-page minicomic. But at least that means I got the bathroom cleaned. And it is new -- I drew it last thursday late, with my new silver pen that is not a goth pen, alright?

Whilst I remember, I thought you might like to know that in the pub this evening there was a proof copy of a second Abarat book being waved around. I seem to recall you spoke highly of the first one?

Did it have the pictures? How soon is it coming out?

Re: wow!
It did have the pictures, though only in black and white. It's scheduled for publication in the autumn.

Re: wow!
ah, they're worth waiting for in colour. All the same, might be worth seeing if I can scare up a copy in this town full of booksellers ...

There are worse things than cheats... myself, I haven't posted in three weeks. Currently mustering pretense that this "break" was intentional/needed.

intentional/needed
I'm sure that it is ... but I'm still missing your strips!

Goths have pens?
16 pages!!! That's more than I've drawn in my life, pretty much :-)

as if!
... scoff. To put it in context -- 16 A6 pages -- two sides of A4, if you're counting.

Re: MMMmmm, Pens!
It is a bit of a stunner (the pen) -- bowed slightly to fit the curve of my hand, with a snake curled round it in the perfect position to rest on my finger. Maybe it's a bit gothy.

The pen-shop-boy is beginning to get quite chatty with me ...

Re: Little Snakes?
they're all hand-made and individual, so it's worth shopping for them yourself if you can ... but I could pick you out one if you fancy an (admittedly very posy) dip-pen you're not even sure will sit comfortably in your hand ... the damage is £18

Dip Pen...?
A Dip-pen!!!! Aaaaaarrrgh!
Runs away screaming in terror, runs back to desk and hugs Wacom Tablet for comfort, oh the horror! (Shudders.)

Er....Maybe not then.

wacom tablets are strokably smooth
but dip pens are deliciously grimy. :)

Re: hahahaha
Erm I dunno... it's possible we might've done more like ten years ago... but I think the most I ever paid for a pen was about a fiver (mind you that was real money in them old days)

Re: hahahaha
When you were drawing that newspaper strip. What, you never bought a brush pen?

Brush pen
Yeah - fiver. Last one I bought's lasted me about ten years, so far. Bargain.
