notes from a meeting - detail

Four hour meetings make this week's strip oh what fun fun fun. It has not plot or reason, and nor do I.

In other news, I am extremely unamused by livejournal's supposed "improvements" to the gallery system. Very few of the actual issues seem to have been solved, and a whole bunch of irrelevant and inexplicable extras seem to have been added. Top of the unpops: compulsory use of  the "rich text system".

I appreciate that the gallery system was developed to fend off all of the people whining that they couldn't post pictures to their journals, but this seems to have lead to a mistaken belief that the only people using it are code-illiterate morons. In fact, to get anything even marginally aesthetic you HAVE to dick with the code (and now, in order to simply do things like make the links work you have to dick with the code -- via a horrible always-on-top source code window, gak gak gak).

I don't like rich text. Please let me out of here.

I was bitching to one of my friends about it the other day, but they did not seem to understand.

More often than not, I do what I can in rich text, copy the source code, cancel the entry and start again by pasting in the source code, then fixing what I can.

If it makes you feel any better, I've spent this week drawing cartoons for the first time in months!

You are most definitely not the only one who doesn't like the RTE! Sadly, it doesn't look likely that they'll stop that being the default (it's going to be the default for all eventually I hear) but it does look likely that you'll eventually get the option to switch away from it once you're in it.

hmmm, I did get a response to my support request
-- the upshot of which is that Scrapbook Users are beta-testing (ish -- it's all a bit pre-beta) the new default RTE. They want to know any issues we're finding with it. As ever -- cheers, LJ -- nice to be informed.

They're not paying me enough userpics for this.
