... and then it rained

It is the first rule of ditches, of course, that halfway through, when your drainage routes are not yet re-established, rain will fall in extraordinary quantities. Think of it as error testing. We had some errors.

Anyway, I've revised my oinion of clay being good for nothing after we used it last night to create emergency waterflow in the right direction. I might keep a rubble sack full around, you know, in case of emergency.

Sun again this morning. Time to get back to it.
