finally a moment ...

... and I thought I should explain all the very short posts. I took my mobile to the Grrr! comics festival in Pancevo, Serbia, which I had been invited to attend, and whenever anything happened that I felt like telling people about, I texted it to my journal, creating the interesting challenge of explinaing something in 130-odd characters ... If you fancy following my journey from the beginning, it starts here -- anyone interested in the convention itself, there will be proper reports following but not for a little while as my hands ... well, it's a combination of insect bites, small cuts and an infected splinter (I think) but typing is uncomfortable. And I have a lot of work to do, so I'd best save my hands for that.

Anyway, here comes the next meeting. Later.

Remember your keyhole pic?
I matched you that with an interesting Czech doorknob on my Flickr.

Welcome back! Sounds like you had much fun. :-)

yes, I went and had a look at it, but I was feeling a bit too spaced to comment, I think! Really cool doorknob, though...

Re: Eek!
I'm trying to remember the name of the family and castle, but I think the castle's name is Karlsteyn (in the Germanic version)...nearish the Austrian border. I think the family name translated into 'black' or 'black raven' ... thus the prominence of the raven picking out the brains of 'the vile Turk.'

Potent piece of history...Bohemia and Moravia were in the 'front lines' of Christendom's defence, especially after Suleyman sacked Vienna in 1500-something (1525?).

Re: Actually
Maybe...I figure most people were living with horrendous injuries and conditions then, that a little graphic art was no big deal. ;-)

Re: Actually
I think it's kind of beautiful ... there's a sort of natural cycle beauty about corpses being eaten by scavengers. I'd be all for an air burial, if it was feasible.
