snow and butterflies

snow in april
Originally uploaded by Jeremy Dennis.
On friday it was snowing. Today I saw a blue butterfly on New Street. What should I plant to persuade more butterflies into my garden? Buddleia, butterfly bush. Maybe the yellow globe variety. What else? Thanks to transponders that weigh just 12mg some researchers found out butterflies don't just fly around at random, so I suppose that butterfly had a reason for dodging the busses. Quickest route from the Castle Mound to St Peter's College gardens, maybe.

I feel like I'm about to jump off a cliff. Here's praying for happy pillows.

Oh, and let me take a moment to congratulate my nephew; you can come out any time you're ready, now, kiddo. And Mama Elle, of course.

Buddleia will tempt butterflies, but lilac is better. Buddleia gets really tatty.

that's OK
I don't mind tatty. Lilac's a nice idea, though, I have fond memories of lilac trees.

Do me a favor and nag the living fuck out of me to actually fucking submit something for the Dearest PickPick...

Not right this moment, obviously...

come out any time

So to speak, etc. Would be funny if one's sexuality was announced at birth. "It's a gay!"

Speaking of butterflies, ...no, there's no way to tie this in with your LJ entry, not even tenuously. Had an email from Red, who is ringleading Ladyfest Brighton, about comix workshops and the like, and your name came up as it tends to. More at the stage of ideas right now than concrete invites - they're also wondering about stuff to exhibit (thought I'd email Erica & see if she has pics of the Brighton comix shows of the early 90s). Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated.

The internet tells me it's in october ( http://www.ladyfestbrighton.co.uk/ ) which is plenty of time away. It's been far too long since we've had comic-y fun beside the seaside in Brighton ...

Exhibition-wise, you should totally talk to Camilla ( crunchcandy ) if you've not already. She was organiser of the Comic Book Queens show and I know she still has some artwork (mine, for example) as well as zillions of brilliant contacts for that and through the shop.

Speaking of which, there are some pretty cool local grrrls, eh? Corinne Pearlman still in the area? Not to mention a certain mockduck, who I think also knows other local artistes various ... speaking of which ...

Last time we had contact with Erica (she emailed to ask us to remove the photos of her on the caption website) she was keen to leave the comics phase of her life well behind, but you can only ask.

... I think that's all I said. I'll add more if I think of more.

Thanks. Camilla was the other name which came up of course (along with Sacha). These other contacts very useful. Corinne, blimey, haven't seen her in years, but yeah.
