the world provides

It just so happens it was my regular scheduled blood donor session today. Oxford Town Hall, in case anyone thinks now is a good time to get into the habit. Public sessions re-start at 4.15pm and go on to 7.15pm. (the find-your-local-donor-session page and Scotblood and Welsh blood's equivalents)

it probably
says more about how dull my sex and travel life is that I'm even *able* to give blood ...

Re: it probably
I can't give blood, due to the "donor eligibility rules" of American Red Cross:

"You are not eligible to donate if: From January 1, 1980, through December 31, 1996, you spent (visited or lived) a cumulative time of 3 months or more, in the United Kingdom (UK)..."

So you can be safe in the knowledge you're un-dull enough to be unable to give blood at least one place in the world.

Re: british = wild!
The Irish made the same call recently - with the predictable result of a disastrous blood shortage - not sure what happened next.

Yes - donate blood. Good on you for doing so! Having just used the find your local centre facility, can I also add a link to the Scottish Blood Service, as I just spent 5 minutes wondering why my nearest donation session was in Berwick-upon-Tweed..

awww naw!
I'm laughing although I really shouldn't. That's so, well, typical. Let me chuck an edit into the main post.

Just discovered there are now sessions a mile or two up the road, which is darned useful. I used to donate when I worked in Birmingham, but got out of the habit when I changed job. Solihull itself is a nightmare for parking, but this other place has street parking immediately outside. Cool.

it's always a good place to give blood
So glorious, so glam.

Today's biscuits are Tuc cheese sandwich, something shortbready or apricot madeleines -- a bit posh! I was tempted by the madeleines but had just had lunch, so wasn't hungry.

Unfortunately there was no weak lemon drink -- and the blackcurrant (which I chose over orange squash, gak) tasted suspiciously sugar-free.

All in all, though, 8/10.

You do have to be 17 though.
Thanks for the post - I was meaning to investigate while Andy was in hospital - giving blood is what I normally do where a believer would pray for someone - and the website informed me that it's only 9 months post-natal that you have to wait - not 12 as I suspected.
