good grief!

Have you looked out of the window? There's white stuff! Everywhere! (Preliminary scan of my friends list suggests this should work for a good swathe of South East England, at least.)

I just drained my camera's batteries on a short walk down the hill. Will I make it out into the garden before it all melts? Will the tulips mind?

We have no snow. I have some bulb shoots poking up, but I don't know how to recognise tulips from the others.

I tend to wait till they flower. Maybe it was eastern snowfall?

Half the fun is the surprise in seeing what comes up I guess. I'm not even entirely sure what it was I planted.

Talking of planting, I guess I'd better start making sure I have everything ready for spring seedlinging.

Camilla has told me about a local seed exchange event where we can meet other people and exchange seeds with them. It kind of sounds a bit rude.

I exchange seeds with my mother, so it can't be that rude ...

What I know of evolutionary biology suggests that may be even better, provided they're the right sort of total stranger, of course.

Snow, snow, snow! I am pathetically excited about it, despite the appalling deathtrap that my street becomes with even a little snowfall. I'll be picking up old ladies when I get home.

What is this snow thing you speak of? We don't get such frivolities here in the sweaty armpit of England.

Isn't it pretty! I drove the sports car to work in the snow without any problems, even though I'd promised my father I wouldn't try.
