went to work this morning ...

In the in tray, an information sheet "...in the UK it has become common beleif, especially among young people that Cannabis is now legal. Even with the changes in law Cannabis will only be reclassified to class C and possession of Cannabis will still remain illegal. In response to this issue..." The rest of the pack is a poster and five little pocket cards: CANNABIS IS ILLEGAL AND WILL REMAIN ILLEGAL on them in big letters, all in bright green, the NDH's code-colour for cannabis. The poster also has CANNABIS IS HARMFUL TO HEALTH on it. Is this information or manifesto? The cards are cute, though.

Damn. I suddenly realised there was something I wanted for my birthday. Hey ho, if no-one gets it for me I can buy it for myself :)

you mean you didn't get an invite to my party, either?
Damnit, I was sure you were on the circulation list ...

Re: you mean you didn't get an invite to my party, either?
I remembered it was your birthday, but was away in manchester and found I didn't have your address anywhere. A card will be in the post as soon as I find that.

(And I didn't get an invite to your party, but that may just be because you don't like me anymore ...)

Re: you mean you didn't get an invite to my party, either?
No, I like you, I just had a rubbish address, and it bounced. If I'd been thinking I'd have used your Livejournal address ... no, I did! It still didn't get through? Er, are you busy this Sunday afternoon? *awkward smile* I suppose I can just tell myself that you two would probably have been at band practice anyway ... Tony, can you send me an email, at home, so I've definitely got a current working address for you please?

(You can get more party details by phoning me.)

Arse!
Bugger! Since I'm going to a barbecue in Didcot on Saturday, going to Oxford on Sunday would have been really convenient, as well as delightful. Unfortunately, because I've been a fuckwit again (so much for that poll!), Sunday is going to have to be devoted to marking. (I'm only going to the barbie because we're having a convention committee meeting immediately before, which I can't get out of.) Have a good one, and I shall content myself with seeing you at CAPTION.

The e-mail address quoted in the LJ userinfo is valid. As for why I didn't get the invite - there are two possible explanations:

1) It arrived after someone had dumped a 1 Mb attachment in my account, putting me over my limit, but before I had cleared said document out. Possible, but unlikely, as I was online when that came in, and got rid of it quickly.

2) More likely, because it was to multiple recipients it was interpreted as spam and dumped in the Junk Mail file. I try to keep an eye on these things, but I may well have missed it.

Re: you mean you didn't get an invite to my party, either?
Duh. Yes, I did get an invite. It's all coming back to me now. It's even written in my diary. But as you correctly surmised, I can't go, and had intended to say so at the same time as apologising for failing to get in touch the other weekend. Problem is, I'm at a party the previous night (Jen's housewarming), and have a rehearsal (as you deduced) on Sunday - important one, because we're playing Ladyfest the following weekend. It's unfortunate - Helen's housewarming is on Saturday night too, so it would've been a perfect Oxford weekend in other circumstances...
