The Women's Tour of Britain's website is frankly a bit Perfect Curve, and the lack of race radio has degraded the live feed to a gappy twitterstream (what happened to "it looks like it's one of the Dutch riders" who had apparently knocked herself cold on a downhill skid? We shall never know) however it's a decent Lycra fix and fine commentary tangletongues as three of the leading teams are called Matrix Fitness-Vulpine, Specialized Lululemon and Wiggle Honda. One thing I noticed though, as Elize Delzenne was out front on a clearly-doomed breakaway. The usual comment under these circumstances is, "the sponsors are getting their moneysworth" but in this case the sponsor's names on the jerseys are pretty much illegibly tiny (presumably a sharp reflection on the size of sponsorship received by female professional cyclists) and I was left puzzled about what to say. "The sponsors clearly didn't expect this to be televised," maybe. It is though! ITV4 for the next few days (how to find a stream plus some more info) and there's reasonable coverage on The Telegraph (of all places) and the Guardian of course. Don't bother with Cycling Weekly, though, as they clearly didn't! And what's with the photos? A few of the start and finish and people in the bus! I don't believe for an instant in this day and age that there are no photos of the actual racing - so presumably there's another small cashflow problem. May it be solved by tomorrow.
